Attendance Matters

Missing school a day here and a day there may seem harmless, but it has become a nationwide epidemic. Students in MPUSD are not immune to this epidemic. In fact, many young students miss 10 percent of the school year - about 18 days a year or just two days a month. This chronic absenteeism can predict lower test scores, poor attendance, and retention in later grades, especially if the problem persists for more than a year. September is Attendance Awareness Month. Partner with the district and your school to educate your students and their parents about the importance of attending school every day.

Principal's Message

August 2, 2017

Dear Del Rey Woods Families,

I write with much enthusiasm both to welcome all of you to the 2017 - 2018 school year and to introduce myself as the new principal of Del Rey Woods. I bring to MPUSD over 20 years of experience in educating students as an elementary principal, a curriculum and instruction specialist, a data intervention specialist, and a teacher at the elementary and middle schools.  On a personal level, I am happily married and a proud mother of  a high school student who enjoys books, coding, and Star Wars!

I had the pleasure of meeting some of you early in the morning during drop off and at the Student of the Month assembly in May and on our Clean Up Day a couple of weeks ago. I hope to connect with many more families in the coming weeks and get to know you and your children. I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our Back to School Night event on Monday, August 21, 2017.

The entire DRW staff has been busy during the summer months preparing extensively for the 2017-2018 school year.  The teachers and support personnel are as excited as I am in renewing our partnership with you in ensuring that our students are successful, safe, and happy at Del Rey Woods.

To make this school year even better than the last, I invite you to join the staff, our students and me in continuing to embrace our MPUSD values:

  • Every person matters

  • Each day counts

  • Learn something new everyday

  • Improve with purpose

  • We’re better together!

To a wonderful year,

Mrs. Lynn Ebora

Principal

Call us at 392-3907 when your child is out of school. Each day at school is vital for your child.

Reminders!

Please make sure your student arrives to school on time. Students arriving after 8:00 am will be meeting with the principal during their lunch time.

The Importance of Homework

Homework is an integral part of your child’s educational process. The assignment of homework serves two purposes. The first and obvious is practice and application of academic skills. Equally important and often overlooked is that homework is an exercise in developing responsibility and good study habits. These are skills that will be essential to being successful in school. Parent support and supervision of homework is an extremely important factor towards building good study habits and personal responsibility. We believe that, as parents and teachers working together, we can build success for your child. Please assist us by ensuring that your child has a quiet area and sufficient time daily to complete his/her assigned homework tasks. Thank you.

UNIFORMS!

Parents please remember children are supposed to wear NAVY and WHITE uniforms! NO BLACK PANTS! AND NO JEANS! THEY ARE NOT PART OF UNIFORM CONDUCT. ALSO NO BRIGHT RED SHOES ARE ALLOWED TO BE WORN AT SCHOOL.
